Task: I would like to select specific colors for my charts in WebIntelligence (WebI). How is that done?
Instructions:
- Create a stacking column or bar chart.
- Right-click the edge of the chart and select "Format Chart". In the dialog box, select Palette and Style, and then select the color palette you would like to use. You can also create a custom color palette and select it. Click OK.The colors will be applied in a sequential order. Thus if the order of your values changes, or one value is sometimes in the chart and sometimes excluded, the colors for each value will change. Most of the time they will apply as expected, but occasionally, especially after purging the report and rerunning it, WebI will apply a different order to the colors on the first report tab displayed. If consistent colors for each section on each report tab are important, you must complete the following steps.
- In Design mode, click on the first color that you want to associate with a label. Right-click on that color and select "Format Data Series".
- The "Format Data Series" dialog box will appear. The color shown, should be the color that you clicked on. If it isn't escape and try again. If it is the correct color for the section you selected, then select the radio button for Custom, and then click OK.
- For each color in a bar or column, continue to select "Format Data Series", verify that the color is correct, and then select the radio button for Custom, and then click OK.
- If you have charts on multiple tabs, and all of the charts need to use the same palette with the same color assignments, then you will need to Repeat these steps for each report tab.
- Purge the data, save the report, and close the report.
- Reopen the report in Reading mode and refresh the report. All charts will now have the same color palette.
Outcome:
You have now created a color pallet that will be used on all charts in the report.
