WebI: Linking Between Report Tabs in a Single Document (Intra-Document Linking)

Task: Create a link from a WebI Document table on a report tab, which when clicked displays another report tab in the same document

Intra-Document Linking, or linking from data on one report in a document to another report's data, is a WebI feature. Report Creators can set up a link between two report tabs in a single document. Then when the Report Reader clicks on the column with the link, the other report tab will be displayed. It should be noted that this feature does not filter the data on the linked report tab.

For example, if a document has Summary information displayed on report tab 1 and Account level detail displayed on report tab 3, we can create a link from a column in a report tab 1's table to report tab 3 and vice-versa.

Steps to create an intra-document link:

  1. Open a report and change view from Reading to Design on top right corner of report.
  2. Select the report tab and table column that you would like to create the link on.
  3. Right-click on the column, choose "Linking" and "Add Intra-Document Link". Alternately, go to the "Report Elements" menu and choose "Linking" and select "Add Document Link" and go to the "Intra-Document Link" tab.
  4. Once in the "Intra-Document Link" box, use the drop down next to "Report Name" under "Hyperlink Properties" and choose the report tab that you would like to link to.Example of how to intra-link.
  5. Under Tooltip, you can type in a custom message or choose from the dropdown. This message will be displayed when you hover your mouse over the new hyperlink.
  6. Click OK at the bottom of the window.
  7. The values displayed on the selected column are changed to blue hyperlinks. If you click the link it dislays the top of the report tab that you specified. Data is not filtered by the first report's column.
