Xtender: Adjust Browser Pop-Up Blocker

Summary

This tip is for anyone using the web version of Xtender.

Xtender uses pop-up windows to display information. If you find that you are not able to see a window, you may need to turn off or adjust your pop-up blocker. In your browser, it is possible to simply turn off the pop-up blocker, or leave the pop-up blocker on and specify which pop-ups are ok (such as the ones from Banner). The instructions below show you how to specify which pop-ups to allow, for Chrome and Firefox.

How-To

Task: Adjust your browser's pop-up blocker settings.

Instructions

In Chrome:

  1. Click the Chrome menu on the browser toolbar (it looks like 3 dots).
  2. Select Settings from the menu. Another browser tab opens.
  3. Click Advanced (at the bottom of the settings list) to expand the options.
  4. In the Privacy and security section, click Site Settings.
  5. Click Pop-ups and redirects.
  6. In the Allow section, click the Add button.
  7. In the Add a site dialog box, enter [*.]unh.edu.
  8. Click the Add button.
  9. Close the Chrome tab.

In Firefox:

  1. Click Open menu on the browser toolbar (it looks like 3 lines).
  2. Select Options from the menu. Another browser tab opens.
  3. Select Privacy and security.
  4. In the Permissions section, confirm the Block pop-up windows checkbox is selected and click the Exceptions button next to it.
  5. In the Address of website section, enter unh.edu.
  6. Click the Allow button.
  7. Click the Save Changes button.
  8. Close the Firefox tab.

Note: Browsers have their own pop-up blockers, but they may not be the only one at work. If you have search toolbars on your computer (such as Google or Yahoo), you may need to turn off those pop-up blockers as well.

Outcome

You should be able to adjust your browser's pop-up blocker settings.
