Retiring a UNH Server
Server administrators may request to remove the DNS entry for their device(s) and/or initiate the server retirement process. A DNS removal request deletes the associated DNS entry while the retirement process decommissions the DNS/IP information across all Enterprise systems.
1. Navigate to the NAC Portal (https://networking.unh.edu/nac), log in and select "My Servers".
2. Select the gears icon next to the appropriate entry.
3. In the Server Details view, select "Remove DNS" from the drop-down menu.
4. Additional dialog will appear confirming you wish to remove the DNS record. To request removal of only the DNS record, complete the form by entering justification for removal and click Submit. If you wish to request removal of the DNS record and removal from enterprise systems (e.g. VMWare, AD, security policies, etc.), check the "Initiate Retirement Workflow" check box, enter justification and click Submit.
