This article describes how and where to use the Oculus Rift.

The PCs inside the library that are equipped to run the Oculus Rift, are any Dell 5810 PCs, primarily located on the main floor and in the lower level Open Lab (OL031) of the library.

For those who borrow the Rift, the minimum specs required to use it with a personal computer are as follows:

  • NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD 290 equivalent or greater.
  • Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater.
  • 8GB+ RAM.
  • Compatible HDMI 1.3 video output.
  • 2X USB 3.0 ports.
  • Windows & SP1 or newer.

The PCs in the library that can run the Oculus Rift have select programs files on them. If you want to use any of these programs, you'll have to create an Oculus account and then select the below programs from the Oculus Library in order to have them run on the machine - instructions are below this list. The list of programs available on our machines is as follows:

  • Apollo 11 VR
  • Go For Launch Mercury Demo
  • The Night Cafe
  • The Body VR
  • We Wait

To sign up for an Oculus account and in order to begin using these apps available on our Dell PCs - please follow these instructions.

First locate the Oculus app on the PC you're working on.



Then select "Create Oculus Account".



Follow the instructions to create your account.



In order to use one of the programs above please go to the store,
then use the search function to search for one of the above titles.



Next type in the name of the application you're looking for.



Once, you've located the application be sure to select "Free" to have the program appear in your library.



Select "Library" to see all of the Apps you have available in your account.



Click on the app you're interested in to begin your experience in the Oculus Rift!
