Summary
You can locate your page by using any of the three methods for Accessing Pages. For this example, we will use the Search Field method and the SPAIDEN page which is the general person identification page.
How-To
Task: Navigate pages in Banner using the Search Filed method for the SPAIDEN page.
Instructions
Click on the page name to access the page. Alternatively, you can type the page name or seven-letter code into the search field and press Enter on the keyboard to open the page.
The key block screen displays. See how the Main Menu Panel remains displayed on the left of any page throughout the system.
The information in the key block determines what is entered or displayed on the rest of the page. Either enter data into the key block field or click the lookup icon identified by three dots to search for and select appropriate values. Click here for more information on how to use the lookup filter.
After entering the necessary information in the key block, click GO to activate page.
Notice the key block collapses but the information is still shown. Click the start over button, to go back to the key block and reenter data.
Pages a divided into three different sections that contains information about the key block information. Gray bars identify sections. You move between sections or tabs by using the previous/next section icons in the lower left part of the screen. You collapse or expand sections by using the down arrows on the left side of each section. Once closed click the arrow to reopen the section.
Many pages now utilized tabs to organize data unless they are grayed out. Click on the tab or use the previous/next section icons to navigate through the tabs. Notice you may have horizontal or vertical scroll bars with some sections. Use these scroll bars to move side to side or up and down to view more information within this section.
You can perform certain actions such as insert, delete, copy or filter within each section. If these actions are not allowed, they will be gray.
There are the Add and Retrieve icons to use with the Banner Document Management (only some functional users have access) . The Related icon is for pages associated to the current page. The Tools icon gives you access to standard options related to the current page. These options change depending on the page you are currently using. Use the vertical scroll bar to see all your options. Let us look at the Page Layout option at the bottom of the tools menu. This provides you with sizing options. The current page display is compact screen. Watch what happens when it is switched to expanded. The page takes up more room by filling the screen. The page layout you select will continue throughout the system until you change it again.
If you make an update to this page, the notification center in the upper right corner will display when there are one or more messages as indicated by the number. There are three message levels: Green indicates the action completed successfully; Yellow indicates a warning and Red indicates an error. Toggling on the number shows or hides the message.
Online help is available for all pages. On any page click the help icon indicated by the question mark (?) in the menu panel or use the shortcut CTRL SHIFT L. It will display detailed information about the page and the field. In addition, there is a printer icon at the top right of the online help screen and a search box to get specific information. Close the browser window when you are done.
When updating a page, each page has a Save button in the lower right corner of the screen. The page footer gives the record count and table field name.
To close the page, click the "X" icon in the upper left corner, the Dashboard icon indicated by the house icon on menu panel, or the shortcut CTRL SHIFT X. These will take you back to your landing page.
Always make sure you click the Sign Out icon indicated by the lock or use the shortcut CTRL SHIFT F to completely logout of the Banner system.
