Outlook: Finding usernames in the Global Address List - Windows Desktop app only

Summary

Each user within the USNH umbrella has a unique Username that is used across many applications.  This article will walk the reader through finding someone's Username using the Microsoft Global Address List (GAL) in the Outlook Desktop App on Windows (not available on the web or in the Mac desktop app as of Jan. 2023).

Task: To find someone's username using the Global Address List

Instructions

Step 1 - Open Outlook

NOTE:  This is only available in the Windows desktop client, it is not available in Outlook on the Web.

Step 2 - Open the Address Book

Step 3 - Ensure you are selected on the Global Address List

Step 4 - Search for the name you need using First Last

Step 5 - Once you have located the correct person there are two ways you can see the Username or Alias

Step 6 - Scroll all the way to the Right column in the Address List and see the Alias Column

Step 7 -Double-click on the name and open up their contact card, Username will be located in the Alias field.
