UNH TV: Carousel - Crawl Subscription

Summary:

This feature is useful for locations/user groups that want to have scrolling text on the bottom of the TV but do not have the knowledge or source to create an RSS feed.   This allows for customizable text to scroll across the zone.

What is a Crawl Subscription:

Users must request a Crawl to be configured in their respective Zone, its is not present by default.

Channels subscribe to crawl zones. This allows you to share the content of a crawl just as you do for other zones.
Crawl zones are invisible until a crawl bulletin is activated and subscribed to. Once active, the channel will reduce all of the zones on the display, providing the room necessary to show the crawl bulletin. The crawl zone may be placed at the top or bottom of the screen. Only one crawl zone may be added to a channel. However, a crawl zone may be used on any number of channels and may include any number of crawl bulletins.

How to navigate and input text into the “Crawl Zone” from Main Menu.

After logging navigate to the respective Crawl Zone by choosing the Zone Type, Tag and Crawl


Under Crawl, select the Crawl Zone
Choose either New Crawl to create a new one or Crawls to edit existing

New Crawl:

  1. Once in the new Crawl window, choose from the following:
  • Text:  This allows the user to manual type or copy and paste text into the Crawl Text Box
  • RSS: This allows users to enter information regarding an existing RSS feed to pull informaiton into the crawl
  • Weather:  The user can congifure this area to pull in a weather crawl from a specific zipcode.
  1. Once the user selects an option be sure to fill-in the name.  Best practice is User Initials, Date and unique name  then fill in the respective information required
  2. Once complete, the user can update the Schedule to which they want this crawl to display.
  3. Enter Content (text only) in the Crawl Text box.
  4. Press the Publish icon in the upper right-hand corner.

Edit a current Crawl:

  1. Select the Crawl in need of editing by selecting the name
  2. Choose the pencil icon on the crawl to edit or select the crawl and choose Actions then the action you would like to perform
  3. Once the user selects an option be sure to fill-in the name.  Best practice is User Initials, Date and unique name  then fill in the respective information required
  4. Once complete, the user can update the Schedule to which they want this crawl to display.
  5. Enter Content (text only) in the Crawl Text box.
  6. Press the Publish icon in the upper right-hand corner.
