This article describes how to publish your course.

 

Content

Semester based courses are not automatically published. The faculty publish their Canvas course when they are ready for student's to see the course. Students will not see the course until you publish it.

Once you publish the course you can choose to only publish specific course content. Read this article for information about publishing Modules (course content) Canvas: How to manage access to Modules. Also, you can not email students through Canvas until the course is published.

J-Term courses and any course taught Online Terms 1-5 are the only courses automatically published.

Task: Publish a course

Instructions

Step 1 - Navigate to your Canvas course.

Step 2 - The Publish course button is located on the course home page in the upper right corner.

Step 3 - Select the Publish button to publish your course.

Note: If you have Unpublished the course, then click on the Publish button to rePublish. If your course contains graded submissions, you can no longer unpublish the course.

Outcome 

You will be able to publish a course in Canvas
