Body

Task: This article will cover the functionality of the quick search component within Navigate.

Instructions:

Quick Search can be accessed from the Quick Search bar at the top center of the screen within the Navigate application.

Navigate menu bar with QUick Search bar circled

To Access the Quick Search feature, users can click on the Search icon in the top right area of the Advisor Home page.

Once the search field is present, users can search by:

  • First Name
  • Last name
  • Student ID
  • Email address

The field provides a dynamic search, so as a user is typing characters into the field the system will automatically provide results based on the criteria entered.

  • Student - Active Student
  • Professor - Faculty member
  • Advisor - Advisor member
  • Administration - Someone that is an administrator for a team
  • No Role - These are inactive students: those that have dropped out, graduated, or are on leave. No Role students remain in the system indefinitely.

When the record a user is searching for appears, users can click on that record and navigate to the Student or User's page for further details.

While using the Quick Search in the upper right, the system will report if the name returned is a Student, Advisor, Professor or No Role (inactive student).

Outcome:

Users will be able to use the Quick Search function in Navigate.
