Task: This article will provide information on how to create playlists and add or remove content from those playlists, including playlists in channels.
Instructions:
Playlists are a good way for users to organize or group videos together in like categories so that users of the system can find similar content.
Creating a Playlist
- Log into Kaltura MediaSpace by clicking on Guest
- Click on your name in the upper right, select My Playlists
- Use the Create Playlist Icon to create a new Playlist
- Provide a title to the Playlist. It is best practice to also include a brief description and add tags. This will help users and search capabilities within the system.
- Click Add. Your playlist is now created!
Adding Content to a Playlist
- Log into Kaltura MediaSpace by clicking on Guest
- Click on your name in the upper right, select My Playlist
- Select the channel you would like to add to the playlist
- Click on the hamburger icon (3 horizontal lines) in the top right corner and then select Edit
- Select Playlists under the title of the Channel
- A list of playlists will appear, use the "+" plus to the right of the content to add that content to the Playlist. You will see the media populate to the left
- You can use the filters at the top as well to find media in the system as well as Search for Media
- Once complete, select Done. Added media will then populate in your Playlist
- At the top of the screen, click Save
Modifying a Playlist
- Click on your name in the upper right of the screen and select My Playlists
- Locate the playlist that you want to modify. Click on the pencil icon, Edit
- Once in edit mode, you can edit the Title, Description, Tags as well as Add, Remove and Re-order the media
- To add media, click the Add to Playlist icon and follow the steps above in "Adding Content to a Playlist".
- Using the 3 dots to the left of each media listing, you can move the media to the top, bottom or remove it from the playlist
- Using the 2 lines (look like an equal sign, =) to the left of the media, you can drag and drop the media to the desired location
- Once modifications are complete, click Save at the top
Creating Playlists within a Channel
Playlists within a channel help organize like media together within a channel. For example, in the "Documentation and Training" channel, playlists were created to represent each software application we train.
- Click on your name in the upper right of the screen and select My Channels
- Locate the channel in question and click on it
- Using the Channel Actions icon in the upper left, choose Edit
- Click the Playlists tab
- Click the icon +Create Channel Playlist
- Use the steps above under "Creating a Playlist" and "Adding Content to a Playlist"
Outcome:
Users should be able to create and edit playlists in Kaltura, including playlists within channels.
