Body
Task: This article describes how to record the Zoom participant gallery view instead of the active speaker window. This can be done when screen sharing or viewing the gallery during a group discussion.
Instructions:
Zoom is a video conferencing software that allows for real-time video and audio communication in events such as meetings, lectures, webinars, and training sessions. Please follow this link for an an overview of Zoom at USNH.
All UNH Pro Zoom accounts have the ability to record their session. The record to cloud option (which automatically transfers the recording to Kaltura) by default captures only the active speaker. If you wish to capture all participants video, you will need to record to the local computer and manually upload the recording to Kaltura. The follow steps will describe the process:
- Begin your Zoom session and change the participant video viewing option to Gallery view. This is done by clicking on the waffle button that says View. Participant videos will now display in a grid pattern.
- Click Record at the bottom of your screen.
- Choose Record on this Computer.
- Deliver your session as normal, to include screen sharing.
- After your session has ended you recording will download to your local computer. The file will immediately display but will also remain in the Zoom download folder often located in the Documents folder on the computer.
- Locate the .mp4 file of the recording and upload to Kaltura using these instructions.
- From this point forward, you can share the Kaltura media link as usual.
Outcome:
After reading this article the user should be able to record the Zoom participant gallery view instead of the active speaker window.
