Task: This article describes how to export content to the Canvas Commons.

Exporting Resources to Commons
Faculty can share resources with other Canvas users at their institution by exporting a learning object or an entire course to Canvas Commons. Sharing a resource to the Commons for your institution will allow other faculty members to search the content and import it into their courses.
NOTE: Resources can only be shared to your institution's Commons and cannot be posted to the public Canvas Commons.
Sharing a Resource from a Course
To share a learning resource to Canvas Commons, use the following steps:
- Open the course using the Global Navigation menu.
- Under course navigation, click the feature area (e.g. assignments, modules, page, file, etc) where the resource is located. To see what file types can be shared to Commons, see this article What types of document and media files can be shared to Commons?
- Locate the resource you would like to share, and then click the Options icon (three dots). Select Share to Commons from the drop down menu.
- Choose who can use the resource. Choosing "Only Me" will make the resource visible to only you in Commons. Selecting all of your institution will make the resource searchable by all Canvas users at your institution.
- Select a content type (optional) and a license type. To learn more about the license types available on Commons, see the article What types of content licenses are available in Commons?.

- Click share.

Sharing a Course
To share an entire course to Canvas Commons, use the following steps:
- Open the course. Then, select Settings in the Course Navigation menu.
- In the right sidebar, click Share to Commons.
- Choose who can use the resource. Choosing "Only Me" will make the resource visible to only you in Commons. Selecting all of your institution will make the resource searchable by all Canvas users at your institution.

NOTE: It may take up to 30 minutes to process a resource. Resource previews are not available in Commons while the resource is processing.
