Summary
Within the Redfern Arts Music classrooms 101 and 112, you may want to play only audio without an accompanying video signal. This is normally not possible in other classrooms. However, within the two band classrooms, it's possible to access an option that will allow you to only play audio in the space without a video signal. The steps below will walk you through how to activate that option:
How-To
Task: To play only audio in Redfern Arts Music classrooms 101 and 112
Instructions
Step 1 - First things first, before turning on the system or plugging in, make sure your device is ready to start playing media.
Step 2 - Check to see if your device has a headphone input on it. This input will be similar to what is pictured below. Some laptops will mark the input with the headphone icon which is also pictured below.
- If your device DOES NOT have this input, you may need to connect an audio port adapter to your device before you can continue. If utilizing an adapter, follow the steps below.
- If you do not have the port or an adapter, you cannot use the audio only function)
Step 3 - Next, you’ll need to locate the VGA cord in the room.
- You should find the VGA cable coiled up near the touch screen.
- (For reference, each touch panel has a picture of the VGA connector as its input picture, pictured below)
Step 4 - Attached to this VGA connector, is an audio cord, commonly referred to as a headphone jack (pictured below)
Step 5 - After locating the audio cord, plug the headphone jack into your device
Step 6 - After that, press and hold on the VGA input option on the touch screen panel for about 3 seconds. This will activate a “more options” menu for the input.
Step 7 - In this “more options” menu, on the right, you should see a button that says “Audio Only” (see picture below).
Step 8 - Select the “Audio Only” button and you’re ready to go! Now you should be hearing the audio playing from your device.
Note: the projector will remain powered off.
Step 9 - Once you are finished using the system, don't forget to power it off using the power button on the touch screen.
Outcome
Redfern Arts Music classrooms 101 or 112 are ready to play audio.
