Important Information

If you currently use or plan to use a non-USNH approved cloud storage application, you must submit a Cybersecurity Exception Request that clearly states the business requirements of the request.

 

How-To

Task: To move files/folders from Dropbox to OneDrive Using Smart sync.

Warning: Prior to using this procedure, ensure that the amount of data stored in Dropbox does not exceed the available storage space on your C: drive. If it does, then follow the instructions to move files/folders from Dropbox to OneDrive using File Explorer.

 

Instructions

Step 1 - Open Dropbox.

Step 2 - Select Settings > Preferences.

Step 3 - Select the Sync tab.

Step 4 - Uncheck Let my admin manage this setting.

Step 5 - Specify the re-location area on your computer for your files/folders.

Note: The default location is your C: drive.

Step 6 - Click Selective Sync….

Step 7 - Choose Select All and click Update.

Step 8 - Click OK on the Update Selective Sync Settings dialog box.

Step 9 - Sign into Microsoft 365, open the app launcher, choose OneDrive.

Step 10 - Choose My Files from the OneDrive navigation menu.

Step 11 - Select Folder from the Upload drop-down menu.

Step 12 - Use File Explorer to navigate to the re-location area you specified earlier.

Step 13 - Select all the re-located folders in File Explorer and click Upload.

Step 14 - Select Move out of Dropbox, if prompted to remove folder from Dropbox account and all devices to OneDrive.

Note: If you have files to upload, return to Step 11, and select Files from the Upload drop-down menu.

 

Outcome

If the transfer is successful, a message displays on the OneDrive icon in the top right menu bar and your selected folders/files are migrated from your Dropbox to your OneDrive.

 

Next Steps

Delete the files and folders from your Dropbox.

Task: To move files/folders from Dropbox to OneDrive using File Explorer.

 

Instructions

Step 1 - Sign into Microsoft 365, open the app launcher, choose OneDrive.

Step 2 - Choose My Files from the OneDrive navigation menu.

Step 3 - Open Windows Explorer.

Step 4 - Navigate to your Dropbox folder.

Step 5 - Select the folders/files that you want move to OneDrive.

Recommendations: If you have a large number of folders/files to move, select a few at a time. After moving those selected, set the Dropbox version of those folders/files to Online Only.

Step 6 - Drag the select folders/files and drop them into OneDrive.

 

Outcome

Your selected folders/files are migrated from your Dropbox to OneDrive.

 

Next Steps

  • Delete the files and folders from your Dropbox.
  • If you are unable to successfully move your folders/files using the procedures provide, contact your desktop support team.
