Important Information

If you currently use or plan to use a non-USNH approved cloud storage application, you must submit a Cybersecurity Exception Request that clearly states the business requirements of the request.

 

How-To

Task: To move files/folders from Dropbox to SharePoint - Using Dropbox Smart Sync.

 

Instructions

Warning: Prior to using this procedure, ensure that amount of data stored in Dropbox does not exceed the available storage space on your hard drive. If it does, then follow the instructions to move files/folders from Dropbox to SharePoint using Finder.

 

Step 1 - Open Dropbox.

Step 2 - Select Settings > Preferences.

Step 3 - Select the Sync tab.

Step 4 - Specify the re-location area on your computer for your files/folders.

Step 5 - Click Choose folders to sync.

Step 6 - Choose Select All and click Update.

Step 7 - Sign into Microsoft 365 at portal.office.com , open the app launcher (waffle in the top left), choose SharePoint, and then choose the SharePoint site where you want to upload the files.

Step 8 - Choose Documents from the SharePoint site menu.

Step 9 - Use the Finder app to navigate to the re-location area you specified earlier.

Step 10 - Select all the re-located folders/files in Finder app and drag them to the Documents area in your SharePoint site.

Step 11 - Select Move out of Dropbox, if prompted to remove folder from Dropbox account and all devices to SharePoint.

 

Outcome

Your selected folders/files are migrated from your Dropbox to your SharePoint site.

 

Next Steps

Delete the files and folders from your Dropbox.

Instructions

Step 1 - Sign into Microsoft 365 at portal.office.com , open the app launcher (waffle in the top left), choose SharePoint, and then choose the SharePoint site where you want to upload the files.

Step 2 - Choose Documents from the SharePoint site menu.

Step 3 - Open Finder.

Step 4 - Navigate to your Dropbox folder.

Step 5 - Select the folders/files that you want move to your SharePoint site.

Recommendations: If you have a large number of folders/files to move, select a few at a time. After moving those selected, set the Dropbox version of those folders/files to Online Only.

Step 6 - Drag the select folders/files and drop them into the Documents area of your SharePoint site.

 

Outcome

Your selected folders/files are migrated from your Dropbox to your SharePoint site.

 

Next Steps

Delete the files and folders from your Dropbox.
