How-To

Task: To add a new contact to a Volunteer Campaign.

Instructions

Step 1 - To add a user to a Salesforce Volunteer Campaign, navigate to the campaign you'd like to add the user to and click Add Contacts.

Step 3 - After they've been added, you'll need to create a new volunteer job for them. You can create a new job by clicking the New button in the Volunteer Jobs-related list on the campaign.

This will create a new volunteer job for the campaign. The name you choose is up to you, but make sure it's something that your volunteers will understand. Generally, it may make sense to name it the same name as the Campaign, unless you're clear about any specific instances of a job you'd like to track.

Step 4 - After a job has been created, you'll then need to create a new job hour record for the Contact. To do this, navigate to the newly-created job and look for the Volunteer Hours related list. Then, click the New button.

Step 5 - Search for your contact, then fill out the rest of the form. For the "Hours Worked" field, you'll need to set that to 0 in order for your volunteer to find the option to log hours on their personal site.

Step 6 - Once all of your jobs have been created and your contact has hours assigned to them, you are able to send the volunteer their personal job site link. To do this, navigate to the Contact and click the Activity pane. Click on the Email tab, and then insert an email template.

The template to send the email to volunteers is called Volunteers Personal Site Contact Lookup. This will automatically generate the link that you can then email off to your contact. Your contact is now able to manage their own volunteer hours from their personal site.
