Summary
Some of our WebI reports use dynamic prompts that list several predefined options or allow for user input to enter in a specific value for the prompt. Some reports that contain a parameter like the one described are FIN1020, UNH 12200, and XFUNC10310.
In InfoBurst, the default behavior is to validate the value entered in for a parameter against an available list of values (LOV). This will cause a burst to fail if a value is entered in for a parameter is not explicitly listed in the LOV.
It is possible to change this setting for each item in a burst so that this error message will not appear, and the report will run for the specified value.
How-To
Task: Change the setting which requires LOV validation
Instructions
-
Navigate to the burst which contains the report
-
Verify the “Items” tab is open or click on the “Items” tab
-
Click on the instance of the item (the selected item will be highlighted in light blue)
-
Click on the “Settings” button in the “Item Details” section
-
In the new dialog box that opens, click on the “Parameter LOV Validation” field and change the setting to “No Validation” then click the “Save” button in the lower right corner of the window
-
Repeat steps 3-5 for each item/instance in the burst that requires this change.
-
Try to run your burst again to verify the change.
-
Repeat steps 1-7 for each burst that contains the impacted report.
Outcome
You should now be able to enter in parameter values not explicitly listed in the LOV (list of values) for the parameter.
NOTE: If you enter in an invalid value, the burst will run successfully but the resulting WebI report will be blank.
