Summary
This article provides an introduction to REDCap, an online HIPAA compliant survey tool including first-time account setup and support. REDCap is available to faculty, students, and staff at USNH.
What is REDCap
REDCap is a secure web application for building and managing online surveys and databases. While REDCap can be used to collect virtually any type of data in any environment (including compliance with 21 CFR Part 11, FISMA, HIPAA, and GDPR), it is specifically geared to support online and offline data capture for research studies and operations.

How-To
If you are a first-time REDCap user, follow the steps below for setting up your account.
Task: Request a new REDCap account.
Instructions
Step 1 - Go directly to: https://td.usnh.edu/TDClient/60/Portal/Requests/TicketRequests/NewForm?ID=IIO6tC9It8A_&RequestorType=Service
Step 2 - Select Application Support as the Request Type
Step 3 - Enter a Request Title such as, “New REDCap account request”
Step 4 - Provide a Description for the request. The description should include details such as your name, the PI of your project, whether you will utilize HIPAA or any other type of restricted data, and any other relevant information about your use-case.
Step 5 - Provide your USNH IT ID in the Username field.
Step 6 - Select your Role from the Role dropdown menu (Student, Staff, Faculty, etc.)
Step 7 - Enter a phone number where you can be reached.
Step 8 - Press the Submit button.
Outcome
An IT Support ticket will be created and routed to RCC for review. An RCC staff member will contact you to complete your request.
HIPAA Training
REDCap users who will utilize HIPAA data will need to consult with the USNH HIPAA Privacy Officer to ensure that any relevant HIPAA training has been completed
