Summary
This article explains the process of exporting your P&T Collections from Mahara on to your personal computer. These directions are for PSU faculty who are looking to preserve their P&T collections on their personal computer before Mahara is sunsetted in the fall of 2024.
How-To
Task: A description of the task that your users are looking to accomplish.
Users will be able to export their P&T Collections in a Standalone HTML website and download it onto their personal computer.
Instructions
Step 1 - On your Mahara Dashboard, click on the main menu in the upper right hand corner and select Manage --> Export
Step 2 - Select Standalone HTML Website and Exporting Just Some of My Collections. Then choose the collections you wish to extract and select Generate Exports.
*Note: If you are downloading more than 2 collections, it is recommended that you downloaded the collections in batches of 2.
PC Directions
Step 3 For PC -Your export should show up in your Downloads Folder on your computer. Select Save. Right click on the export and select Extract All. Then click on Export.
Step 4 PC - Go back to your Downloads Folder and click on the unzipped folder. This unzipped folder has the same name as your zipped folder, however the type of folder will be File Folder.
Mac Directions
Step 3 For Mac -Your export should show up in your Downloads Folder on your computer. Double click to extract files.
Step 4 For Mac -Your unzipped file(s) should show up in your Downloads Folder on your computer, Open up the file and find the main index.html page
Both PC and Mac
Step 5 - Click on the index.html page to view your portfolio.
Recommendations:
- Use PSU Campus Wifi for fastest download speed
- Do not remove any files from this export package, or it will break
- If you get an error message, please reach out to ET&S Teaching and Learning via the ticket system.
- You can also copy and paste text from your portfolio onto a Word document
Outcome
Users will be able to export their Mahara Portfolio collections into a Standalone HTML website for safekeeping on their personal computer.
