USNH Enterprise Technology & Services (ET&S) offers a secure electronic equipment disposal (SEED) service for obsolete technology equipment that is USNH-owned (including IT equipment and scientific instrumentation assets) on all campuses.
Some of the items that are sent for disposal through SEED may contain what is designated as Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) by the United States Department of Defense.
The Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) program is a certification program run by the Department of Defense to ensure that any contractors or subcontractors working with DoD CUI are appropriately protecting that information.
USNH is in the process of obtaining CMMC certification, as we have many Federally and Grant-Funded programs here on campus that are subject to these DoD cybersecurity policies.
In order to ensure proper handling of CUI, all SEED handlers are required to complete a Department of Defense Mandatory Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) Training . The training is publicly available, free of charge, and takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.
Once the technician/ SEED handler has completed the training, their certificate should be emailed to their direct supervisor as well as the current SEED program manager, who will file the certificate for both SEED and CMMC records to ensure compliance.
