This article will discuss the basic steps for presenting from a laptop in a classroom or learning space at USNH, as well as provide basic audio and video troubleshooting steps for Mac and Windows operating systems.

  1. If your device requires a display adapter to connect to the provided HDMI or USB-C cable, connect the cable to the adapter first, then connect the adapter to your device. If your system is powered on and awake, the system should automatically start displaying your laptop.

  2. If the system does not auto-start, you may need to select the Laptop, HDMI or USB-C source icon on the AV touch panel.
  3. After the projector or display has powered on, the computer's image should display on the projection screen.
  4. If the projection image is not displaying correctly or if the sound is not coming through the room speakers, see the troubleshooting sections below.

 



Mac Laptop Troubleshooting

 

Video Mirroring
Enabling Mirrored Displays will show the same content on both the laptop and projection image.
Open Mac OS Control Center (Function-C shortcut keys) > Screen Mirroring> Mirror or Extend to desired output device

Changing Display Color Profile
Color Pro!les control the color balance and contrast levels for a display.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Settings.
Choose Displays. Click the Color tab.
Select a color pro!le from the list on the left. Click through the pro!les and select the one that looks the best.

Audio Settings
It may be necessary to select the correct Sound Output settings.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Settings.
Choose Sound. Click the Output tab.
If using HDMI, select HDMI as the output.
If using VGA, select Headphones as the output.

Change Display Resolution
Display resolution determines the size of text and objects on your screen.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Settings.
Choose Displays.
Select the desired resolution. Generally the highest resolution in the list is the best choice.

 



Windows Laptop Troubleshooting


Duplicating Displays
Duplicating displays the same image on each display.
Press and hold the Windows key + P. In the window that appears, select Duplicate.

Changing Display Color Profile
Color Profiles control the color balance and contrast levels for a display.
Click the Start button, and then click Control Panel.
In the search box, type color management, and then click Color Management.
Click the All Pro!les tab, and then click Add. Locate and select the new color pro!le, and then click Add.
Click Close.

Audio Settings
It may be necessary to select the correct Sound Output settings.
Click the Start button, and then click Control Panel.
Click Sound Settings.
Select the desired Sound Output device (generally the non-built in speakers option)

Change Display Resolution
Display resolution determines the size of text and objects on your screen.
Right-click on the desktop and choose Screen Resolution. Set the screen resolution to the highest setting available.
