iClicker Hardware Test

Audiovisual Services installs and supports the hardware for iClicker use in Registrar controlled classrooms.

The iClicker base is installed on the wall in LARCs and inside the podiums for Supertech classrooms.

iClicker bases connect via USB (AB) to a computer and transmits a wireless signal with a frequency labeled any combination of AA-FF.

To test whether the hardware is functioning properly take the following troubleshooting steps.

1. Plug the iClicker software USB drive into the computer you are testing. If on a Mac open the i>clicker software. If using Windows open the i>clicker.exefile.

   

2. Select the "Audiovisual Test Course" and select SETTINGS.

On the back of the instructor’s remote (blue) there is an ID number. Make sure ID matches the ID in the Instructor’s Remote ID box in MY SETTINGS. This enables the instructor remote to control questions and powerpoints. Close MY SETTINGS and select START SESSION. The base will sync with the iClicker software and a session will start.

3. Next, hold the POWER button on the instructor remote, supplied in the iClicker testing kit, until the frequency letters blink. Type in the frequency labeled in the room. Example: AA. If the frequency does not work it will continue to blink. If the iclicker connects using the correct frequency it will say "Welcome".

Select START/STOP POLLING and a question will become active.

While the question is active pair the student remote (white) that is set to the same frequency and select an answer A through E. You should see on the top left corner a 1 appear, indicating that a student has answered the question.

The instructor remote should also be able to control Power Point presentations. If the instructor has entered the faculty remote device into the Clicker software, then the remote will control Powerpoint presentations. The powerpoint presentation must also have the Transitions option for Advance Slide set properly. The Advance Slide option should not have the On Mouse Click checked.
