UNH Alumni: Accessing Library Resources after Graduation (ETS Internal)

Summary

Library Resources support info for UNH Alumni/ae.

Body

---- Based on Info from Heather Burroughs, October 29, 2021.  Updated by Katie Ellis, June 3, 2025.  ----

  • The UNH Library has both electronic and physical resources available for current students, faculty, and staff.  Library and electronic access for people currently attending or employed at UNH is determined by their UNH account and is uploaded to the Library system.  There can be some lag time at the beginning of semesters before complete data reaches the Library, so patrons who believe they should have access to electronic resources based on their role with UNH, should contact the Circulation Desk at library@unh.edu with questions.

  • Alumni/ae of any USNH university are eligible for a free borrowers card from the UNH Library upon verification of their graduation date.  This card affords patrons access to physical collections at all Durham UNH Libraries (Dimond and Branches) as well as intercampus lending with our Manchester campus.  The UNH Library does not provide electronic access to alumni patrons, however, the UNH Alumni Association does host a suite of EBSCO databases for UNH alumni use (a perpetual gift from a previous alum). This database may require registration with the Alumni Association, but can be found here:  https://unhconnect.unh.edu/s/1518/20/interior.aspx?sid=1518&gid=4&pgid=488  . Find Alumni/ae information on the Library site here: https://library.unh.edu/community/alumni  .

  • The UNH Library is not able to provide database or electronic access to any other patron types (residential, consortium, etc.).

  • Students who have graduated who wish to request continued access to electronic resources must have an account sponsored for them by an academic department. The Library does not sponsor accounts, nor do they manage them.  All electronic resources are managed by certain levels of UNH credentials and requests for continued access must go through the appropriate forms with the University IT department. Patrons of this type who do not have a sponsored account or who do not have the level of access they believe they should receive should first contact the department that is sponsoring them to check that the paperwork is correct, and should then work with University IT to resolve the issue, as the Library has no ability to correct any errors or grant access.
