This service should only be used to request background checks and/or motor vehicle record searches for the following:
- Graduate Assistantships (TA/RA)
- Volunteers:
- Departments are responsible for the cost of volunteer requests.
- Rechecks/Annual Requirements for Youth Programs (every 3 years) or Youth Skills Camps (annual) for current employees:
- Departments are responsible for the cost of youth program/youth skills camp requests.
- Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Searches for required current employees (every 3 years)
- PSU: Please send MVR Search requests directly to PSU Office of Human Resources
- Additional MVR Form Requirements: HireRight will provide any additional state required forms depending on the issuing state of the driver’s license being reviewed. If an additional form is required, the driver must upload the completed form into the HireRight system before the search can be completed.
- NH MVR Search Form: this form no longer requires notary signature, full instructions are provided to the driver within the HireRight system.
- MVR checks are required for the following:
• Employees who have a vehicle assigned to them
• Regular drivers – defined as any employee/volunteer whose job description includes driving as a responsibility, or who frequently drives a USNH owned or rented vehicle ("frequently" defined as more than 3 times month)
• Those driving distances greater than 200 miles per trip in a USNH owned or rented vehicle
• Any employee driving a van or bus designed to carry more than 9 passengers
• Employees who transport students regardless of distance or vehicle type
• All non-employee students driving a USNH owned or rented vehicle (non-employee students do not use this request, requests are done directly with USNH)
• Any contractor or non-employee given permission to drive a USNH vehicle
Background checks for hires processed through Workday do not require a separate background check request ticket. Requests submitted for these hires will be cancelled as they are automatically initiated by HR during the hiring process.
Once submitted, requests are routed to HR for approval. Accepted requests are then submitted electronically to the background check vendor, HireRight. The individual will receive an email from HireRight describing how to access their website to provide the information necessary for the background check to be processed. Background checks take an average of 10 business days to be completed from the time the applicant submits their information to HireRight
