Summary
This article details how to create and edit your own email templates in Salesforce Lightning.
Note: There are two ways to manage templates. You can create a Lightning Template while you are creating a one-off email. Or you can create and edit templates through the Salesforce Lightning Email Template Builder tool.
How-To
Task: To create a Lightning Template while you are creating a one-off email.
Note: This process creates a Lightning Template.
Instructions
Step 1 - Begin creating a one-off email. Make sure the email already has a subject and body.
Step 2 - Click the Template button and click "Save as new template..."

Step 3 - Name the template and choose what folder the template will be saved to.
Outcome
You have successfully created and saved a lightning template for your personal use.

Task: To create a template through the Salesforce Lightning Email Template Builder tool.
Instructions
Step 1 - In Salesforce Lightning, open the app launcher (9 dots in the upper corner)
Step 2 - Type "Templates" into the search bar
Step 3- Click on "Email Templates"

Step 4- Click New Email Template in the upper right hand corner
Step 5 - For "Related Entity Type" choose the relevant object to relate it to.

Task: To edit templates through the Salesforce Lightning Email Template Builder tool.
Instructions
Step 1 - In Salesforce Lightning, open the app launcher (9 dots in the upper corner)
Step 2 - Type "Templates" into the search bar
Step 3- Click on "Email Templates"

Step 4 - Use the features available on the page to find the template you want to edit. Once you find your template, click on it’s name.
Step 5 - Click "Edit" or "Edit in Builder" in the top right corner.
Step 6 - Make any needed changes and click "Save".

Outcome
You are able to edit and save your lightning templates.
