Functions of AV Services

1. Preventative Maintenance of installed AV equipment: Open the FileMaker Pro AVS_PM_Track database to see what rooms are due for preventative maintenance (Tier 2 every 4 weeks, Tier 3 every 2 weeks). Compare the list to what rooms are available during a given shift (i.e. no class being conducted) and assign a list of rooms to student technicians for them to complete. The list is typically communicated via the iPod using the Notes app. Technicians report room status to the supervisor for input to the FileMaker database.

2. Delivery, setup, and pick-up of AV equipment: Open the FileMaker Pro reservations database, navigate to the Ship and Return module to see what deliveries and pickups are scheduled for a particular day. The time, locations, and list of equipment should be written on the whiteboard daily and a technician is assigned to each task. Equipment should be checked out and in using the ship and return module in FileMaker by entering the equipment code from the sticker on the equipment case.

3. Real time troubleshooting of AV equipment: When phone rings, greet the caller with "Audiovisual Services - name speaking. How can I help you?". Be ready to write the caller's UNH ID, location and description of the issue. Make sure to ask if the caller would like immediate assistance before sending a technician with backup equipment. If appropriate, continue to attempt phone troubleshooting while technician is en route.
