Troubleshooting iClicker Base

If the iClicker base is not responding when you select START SESSION take the following steps.

  1. Unplug the iClicker base from the computer and plug back in. This will reinstall the driver.
  2. Next, restart the computer. The issue may be computer related, preventing the software from running properly.
  3. In a SuperTEC classroom, the base will be connected to a USB switcher that interacts with both the built-in Mac and PC. The first thing to try is switch to another source on the touchpanel and then back. It may be that the USB switcher didn’t switch properly. If that doesn’t work, unplug the base’s USB cable from the USB switcher and plug back in.  Next, try resetting the power to the USB switcher. It may be that the computer emulation isn’t working properly on the USB switcher.
  4. In a SuperTEC classroom, the laptop source will have a second iClicker base that uses the same frequency. This must be tested separately and cannot be plugged into the built-in PC or Mac USB ports. It will cause all base stations to stop functioning until the USB is unplugged. (Can’t have two bases with the same frequency on the same computer).
  5. Check that the frequency is correct. Using the designated iClicker laptop in the testing kit, open the BaseFrequency_V3.exe program on the desktop.  Plug-in the iClicker base you want to test and the frequency will be displayed. If necessary, change the frequency to the same frequency posted in the room. Next, make sure the "lock" box is checked off and click save. This lock will prevent the frequency from being changed.
  6. If the base displays an "Error: Base Empty" or only "Boxes" as text, its software may have corrupted and needs to be replaced. An attempt to restart or change of frequency should be attempted, but will likely be unsuccessful.
