Summary
This article provides information on purchasing wireless devices to be successful on USNH Networks.
Content
When purchasing a wireless device to use on USNH Campus, always look for Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) products first. If a Wi-Fi 6 version is not available, Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) is your next best choice. USNH campuses do not support the use of 802.11b devices, as they are known to perform poorly on high-density wireless networks.
Laptop Computers
- For the best possible user experience, 802.11ax is strongly recommended. Older laptops are encouraged to purchase an 802.11ax USB wireless adapter. USNH IT is still investigating an 802.11ax USB wireless adapter and once that device information is found this article will be updated.
- Until then USNH IT recommends this USB 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter
Game Consoles
- For the best possible user experience 802.11ax capability is strongly recommended.
- Newer PlayStation 4s/5 (Slim and Pro), Xbox One (S and X models), and the Nintendo Switch are all 802.11ax capable.
