How-To Upload an MP3 file into Mahara

Task: Upload a MP3 file into Mahara

We usually discourage folks from uploading an mp3 file into their Mahara content. You need to be aware of the size of the file because they can take up a lot of space in your content. Each user only has 250MB of space.

If possible, place the file in an application like Youtube then use the External Media block found under the External title but you need to be able to share the file and get a URL or Embedded code for that block style. Here is the link to do that: https://td.usnh.edu/TDClient/60/Portal/KB/ArticleDet?ID=2561

Otherwise, here is how to use an mp3 file from your content section. Once in edit mode, complete the following steps:

Instructions

Step 1 - Click on Main Menu in the upper right side of the dashboard page indicated by horizontal lines.

Step 2 - Click on the down arrow next to Create title.

Step 3 - Click on the Pages and Collections sub-title.

Step 4 - Click on title of Page you want to edit.

Step 5 - Click the Pencil Icon button (edit mode).

Step 6 - Click the Media option on block style menu on left side of screen.

Step 7 - Drag and drop the Embedded Media block type onto the page where you want it located. The configure screen will open.

Step 8 - Change the "Block title" or for "no title" delete the existing title text.

Step 9 - Click the Media title.

Step 10 - If you have not uploaded the file, proceed to upload the file from your computer. If the file is already uploaded, locate the file and click the check mark.

Step 11 - Click Save.

Outcome

Now you will have a video on Mahara.
