Summary

Mapping to a network drive allows your computer to access a shared storage location on a network, and you can access files and folders on that drive as if they were on your local computer. This article shows how to map your Turing drive to your Windows or MacOS devices.

How-To

Note: Off-campus users need to connect to the GlobalProtect VPN before following these instructions.

Instructions

Step 1 - Open File Explorer from the taskbar or the Start menu, or press the Windows logo key  + E.

 

Step 2 - On the left side of the Windows Explorer window, click on "This PC"

 

Step 3 - At the top of the window, click the tab named Computer, and then click "Map network drive". Select "More" , and then Map network drive if you are running Windows 11.

   

 

Step 4 - Type \\turing.plymouth.edu\username in the "Folder:" box, and make sure that "Connect using Different Credentials" is checked. Click Finish.

 

Step 5 - A small window should pop up asking for your credentials. You should enter your username@ad.unh.edu and password.*

*Please note that entering your username@ad.unh.edu is not what most PSU services require to login. This is due to changes in the way that Turing is mapped.

 

Step 6 - If you have successfully done these steps, a new window should open. This folder is your Turing drive!

Step 1 - Within Finder, at the top of the screen click Go

Step 2 - In the drop down menu click Connect to Server

 

Step 3 - For the server address, enter smb://turing.plymouth.edu/ and click Connect *

* The username will be your myPlymouth username

 

Step 4 - A small window will appear that will say "You are attempting to connect to the server "turing.plymouth.edu". Click Connect

 

Step 5 - You will be prompted to enter your myPlymouth username@ad.unh.edu and password. Once you have done so, click Connect

*Please note that entering your username@ad.unh.edu is not what most PSU services require to login. This is due to changes in the way that Turing is mapped.

 

Step 6 - If you have entered your credentials correctly, a new window will appear. That new window is your Turing drive!

 

Outcome

You should be able to map your Turing drive using a MacOS device.
