Installing JMP

Summary

JMP is an academic software that used for exploratory data analysis, statistical modeling, and graphical representation of data. This article details how to install JMP on your personal devices for both Windows and MacOS users.

 

How-To

Task: To install JMP on your personal devices 

The following instructions will install the required files on your computer to use JMP. This procedure only needs to be performed once, but it must be done on every individual computer on which you wish to use JMP.

Instructions

Step 1 - Connect to the repository for the installation files here: UNH JMP This folder is accessible to all UNH account holders, but you may have to login with your UNH username and password to gain access.

Step 2 - Open the folder for the version and operating system you would like to install. JMP Pro 16 is the most recent and the basis for these instructions.

Step 3 - You will see an archive for the software. In this case, it will be a .zip archive or .dmg file. Download this by clicking on the item and then clicking on the Download button that appears in the middle of the browser window. Be sure to Download the .zip archive or .dmg file to your computer. Do not Open it from the location.

Step 4 - Once the download has finished, locate the file downloaded. Typically it is in the Downloads folder in your user folder on the computer. If you are on a Windows device, you will need to extract the files, right click and extract all. Once extracted, you should see the installation files to continue the process.

Step 5 - Navigate to the setup.exe or JMP-Install.dmg program. You can find it in a set of nested folders

Step 6 - Proceed through the installation. When the Welcome screen appears, click the Next button.  JMP may request to first install a new .NET Framework before its installation proceeds. If so, allow the .NET Framework to install, accepting default choices.

Step 7 - For the "Destination Folder", it is recommended that you accept the default location by simply clicking the Next button.

Step 8 - When asked to "Select Features", the default installation options are recommended. Click the Next button to continue.

Step 9 - Click Install to begin the installation.

Step 10 - When the setup process completes, click Finish to exit. Registering JMP is not required.  Once the installation is complete, you may discard the installation archive you downloaded in the initial steps.
