Installation

Task: To install Spartan on your Windows devices

Spartan Student requires that the entire application be installed on your computer. Your computer will still need a network connection to check out a license for Spartan Student from the server each time you start the program.

Instructions

Step 1 - Connect to the repository for the installation files from UNH Spartan. This folder is accessible to all UNH account holders, but you may have to login with your UNH username and password to gain access.

Step 2 - Open the folder for Student Spartan Windows. The currently licensed version is: 9

Step 3 - You will see an archive for the software. In this case, it will be a .zip archive file. Download this by clicking on the item and then clicking on the black Download button that appears in the middle of the browser window. Be sure to Download the .zip archive to your computer. Do not Open it from the location.

Step 4 - Once the download has finished, locate the .zip archive. Typically it is in the Downloads folder in your user folder on the computer. Right-click on the .zip archive and select Extract All. Once extracted, you should see the installation files to continue the process.

Step 5 - Run the setup program named SpartanStudentInstaller... by double-clicking it.

Step 6 - Proceed through the setup program accepting the license agreement and then the default options.

Step 7 - When the licensing options screen appears, select Network and click Next.

Step 8 - A separate installer will launch for the Sentinal Runtime license metering software. Proceed through this installer, accepting the license agreement and the default options.

Step 9 - Click Finish when the Sentinal Runtime installer finishes.

Step 10 - Enter academic.unh.edu as the name of the license server.

Step 11 - Complete the process of finishing all running installers.

Step 12 - Once the installation is complete, you may discard the installation archive you downloaded in the initial steps.

Using Spartan Student

Because Spartan Student must check out a license from the UNH license server each time it runs, you must be either on the UNH campus on a wired Ethernet connection or using the secure eduroam wireless network, or you must be connected to the USNH VPN service if using the software from off campus.

Once you have completed the installation, you can run Spartan Student by using the shortcuts in the Spartan Student Software folder of the Start Menu.
