Creating a SharePoint Delivery Template

Summary

Delivery templates are most useful when a user will be delivering a lot of content to the same location in the same format. Using a template will allow the user to specify all the needed delivery information once then they can use the template on Burst items instead of having specify the same information over and over again.

Note that a user must have completed the steps to add platform credentials for SharePoint before a delivery template can be made for SharePoint.

How-To

Task: Follow the instructions below to create a template for delivering to SharePoint.

Instructions

  1. Log into InfoBurst
  2. Navigate to your “My Home” folder

  3. Click on the New button and select Template

  4. Enter in a name for the template
  5. Select “SharePoint” from the Destination drop-down menu

  6. Under the platform drop-down menu, select “InfoBurst Users SharePoint OAuth”.

  7. SharePoint URL will be pre-filled with the URL for the InfoBurst Users site. In a web browser, navigate to the home page of the SharePoint site you will be delivering items to and copy the URL from the browser address bar. The URL should end only with the name of the site.
  8. Select the Document Library you wish for this template to deliver to. You can browse the document library for your site by clicking on the blue folder icon.

  9. You do not need to enter in a file name. The system will default to using the item name and parameters selected as the file name if you leave this blank. If you would like to specify a name, it is suggested that macros are used as this template is intended to be flexible.
  10. In the format tab, select the format of the item you wish to be delivered.
    1. Note that multiple formats cannot be chosen so you will need to create a template for each format you wish to deliver to this location (I.e., one template for PDF and another for Excel, another for Tableau hyper, etc.).
    2. You do not need to set a content password.
  11. Be sure to click the Save button to save the template.

  12. If you need to create another template for an additional format, you can copy the existing template, rename the copy, and adjust.

Outcome

You can now use this template as a delivery in Bursts.
