Instructions:

Kaltura media owners have the ability to change media ownership. Kaltura media owners are able to add co-editors, co-publishers, and co-viewers to their media.

Co-editors

Can edit the media entry's details, trim and replace media, and edit things like captions and slides, as well as see the analytics for the media they co-edit. Co-editors CANNOT delete media or add new co-editors and co-publishers. Co-editors can see the analytics page for the media they co-edit.

Adding Collaborators

If you have a piece of media you would like to share between Kaltura accounts, the media owner must do the following:
  1. Go to My Media within one of your courses, or on MediaSpace.

  2. Find the desired video to share and click the pencil icon 

     
  3. Click the Collaboration tab.


     
  4. Click on the Add Collaborator button.

  5. A new window will appear. Enter the new collaborator's IT ID. Select co-publisher, co-editor, co-viewer, or any combination of the three and click Add.
Once finished, the new collaborator (person receiving the shared media) should follow the process in this linked article to view their shared content.
Removing and Editing Collaborators
If you would like to remove or edit permissions of collaborators such as co-editors, co-publishers and co-viewers from your recording, please follow these steps.
  1. Go to My Media within one of your courses, or on MediaSpace.

  2. Find the desired video to share and click the pencil icon 

     
  3. Click the Collaboration tab.
     4.   If you would like to remove a collaborator, under VIEW ALL PERMISSIONS, click the X on the far right and then click Delete when prompted. Perform this step for each person who you would like to remove. 
     5.   If you would like to edit a collaborator's permissions, under VIEW ALL PERMISSIONS, click the pencil on the far right and then select any check boxes necessary and click Update when done. Perform this step for each person whose permissions you would like to edit.

Changing Media Owner

You can give ownership of a media entry to another user. Be aware that you will no longer have access to the media. If you would like to change the media owner completely, the original media owner must do the following:

  1. Go to My Media within one of your courses, or on MediaSpace
  2. Find the desired video to share and click the pencil icon 



     
  3. Select the Collaboration tab.


     
  4. Click Change media owner.

  5. A new window will appear. Enter the first name, last name or both, for the new owner.


     
  6. Click Save.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Somebody shared a video with me, but I don't see it in My Media?

  1. Log in to the Kaltura (either through Canvas or MediaSpace)

  2. Navigate to My Media.

  3. Click on Filters.

  4. Under Ownership, click one of the following for what you have been granted Media I Can Edit (Co-Editor), Media I Can View (Co-Viewer), or Media I Can Publish (Co-Publisher).

  5.   Make sure you have clicked the Filters button and selected the correct options.
