Answers
A1 - I have a VoIP phone - can I move my own phone to another location in my building or to another building?
- It is always best practice to consult with your Telecom Account Manager (TAM) / Department Liaisons about any phone or Ethernet network moves prior to the change. Your TAM works closely with Telecom and your department, so may be aware of other factors that could impact your desired phone/network move. Currently, TAMs are available primarily for UNH and the USNH System Office.
- Tip: Use your web browser's search function (CTRL+F / Command+F) to find your Department's name in the list of TAMs.
- KSC, PSU: If there is no TAM listed for your department, please submit a Telecom Work Order Request or reach out to the Technology Help Desk for assistance planning your phone move.
- VoIP phones require an active Ethernet connection. As long as there is an available, activated Ethernet port at the new location, you can move your own phone. See below for how to connect your VoIP phone to Ethernet and your computer.
- Telecom has an automated audit that tracks the location of VoIP phones on campus (coming soon to KSC).
