Task: This article was created to provide an easy step by step process for faculty advisors to start using the application in 4 easy steps.

Instructions:

1.  Sync Navigate with Outlook (you only need to do this once)
Syncing your Outlook Calendar with Navigate allows faculty to insure their availability is accurate within Navigate.  Faculty that schedule meetings and other commitments in Outlook will allow those meetings to sync over to Navigate as “Busy” and prevents students to schedule appointments during these times.  This prevents accidental double bookings.

2.  Set up advising availability
Faculty must set their availability before students can schedule appointments.  Student appointments can only be scheduled during times defined by you.  The system prevents an appointment from being booked when faculty or students are scheduled to be in class.

3.  Message advisees about scheduling
This functionality allows advisors to communication with students directly through Navigate.

4.  Enter appointment summaries after meeting with student (or mark them a no-show)
Appointment summaries recap the discussion between faculty and advisee.  These notes are available for both to refer back to in the future. This information is also available to other advisors, keeping everyone informed.  Note can be entered for a student regardless if the student had an appointment through Navigate or not.
