Employees of the University System of New Hampshire are welcome to provide a name by which they choose to be addressed, and to specify personal pronouns and gender identity. Employees can update this information using the self-service tool available on WISE. These options are intended to allow for a broader and more accurate representation of how you are identified in your role here.
Updating Your Information
- To get started, visit WISE at: https://wise.usnh.edu/ and log in.
- Professional and/or Chosen/Preferred Name
- Once logged in to WISE, select Personal Information then My Preferred Names

- By providing a Professional and/or Chosen/Preferred name, your name will be updated in a number of applications.
If a Professional Name is provided, that name will be the primary name used in technology applications; otherwise, the Chosen/Preferred Name will be used (unless the legal name is required).
- You must provide a First Name and a Last Name.
- If you include a Middle Name (or Middle Initial), please know that some applications ignore middle name.
If you need to be sure your middle name/initial consistently appears along with your first name, add it in the first name field.
You may do the same with double last names using the last name field.
- For definitions of the name types, and a list of the applications in which they will be updated, visit: https://td.usnh.edu/TDClient/KB/ArticleDet?ID=2329.
- Pronouns and Gender Identity
- Once logged in to WISE, select Personal Information then My Profile select Personal Information.
Here you may designate your pronoun(s) and/or gender identity.
(You may be asked to re-authenticate)
- In the Personal Details section, choose Edit and use the list of values to update your Personal Pronoun and/or Gender Identification information.
- Learn how personal pronouns and gender identity are used, or to request additional options to be added to the lists at https://td.usnh.edu/TDClient/KB/ArticleDet?ID=2329.
