Summary

This article provides an outline of the Activity Timeline in the Salesforce User interface - Lightning.

Content

The Activity Timeline displays upcoming, current, and past activities in chronological order. In Classic, activities were listed in an Open Activities or Activity History section. In Lightning, they are mixed together in the Activity Timeline. Examples of activities include logged calls, emails, and tasks. Emails and events that are logged via Outlook Integration will appear in the Activity Timeline as task or event records (not TargetX Org Event records, Salesforce event records).

Activities can be located in different areas of the record, but on most record, they are located on the right-hand side of the page. Underneath the Email, Log a Call, and New Task buttons. To view or edit the activity record, click on the subject line of the task. It will be within the sidebar or you can click the arrow to fully expand it.
