Summary
The my.Portal site has the ability to alert users to important messages through Announcements, they can be Notices, Alerts or Emergencies.

Task: Below are the steps that will walk users with permissions to create announcements in my.portal
There are 3 different types of Announcements the ability to create types of announcements is directly tied to your role and permissions. Notification Capabilities can be adjusted for preferred channels. Notifications preferences can be set for Comments, likes & mentions, Posts, Messages, Groups, Events, Connections, Pages, and Tools.
Notices:
- Notices are designated my a Blue Bullhorn
- Notices are issued to a user's Activity feed.
- Notices may be received using a notification, email, or SMS text message.
Alerts:
- Alerts are designated by a Yellow circle with explanation point
- Alerts are issued to the top of a user's Activity feed.
- Alerts may be received using a notification, email, or SMS text message.
- Alerts will also be present on the Users Dashboard. Users have the ability to dismiss announcements, but can always go back to them under the Activity area
Emergency Announcements:
- Emergencies are designated by a Red Emergency light
- Emergency Announcements are issued to the top of a user's Activity feed and above all other Alerts.
- Emergency Announcements may be received using a notification, email, or SMS text message.
Notifications Navigation
If you have unchecked notifications, you’ll see the Notifications bell and can click on that to view any unread notifications.
