This article provides information on the working of Game consoles on the USNH wireless network.

Overview
Game consoles will only work on the <campus>-Open (eg UNH-Open, KSC-Open, or PSU-Open) network due to the lack of support for enterprise-level network authentication and encryption. The <campus>-Open network is not encrypted and users should be aware that data transferred over that network lacks any level of network encryption.
Game consoles on the <campus>-Open network are given public IPs to alleviate any NAT-related issues, and to segment them from all other wireless users.
USNH's network access control (NAC) system detects game consoles automatically and assigns these specialized fingerprints to their connection. If you have a game consoles that is not behaving as it should, that automatic detection may be failing. If you have questions or concerns please contact the Help Desk team on your local campus.
Registration
Like all other network-capable devices, game consoles need to be registered on the UNH Network. Game consoles without browsers will need to be registered via the non-browser device registration tool available at Network Registration. You will need the Hardware (MAC) address of the device, which can generally be found under the network settings. Important note: The newer the technology on a game console, the better the experience on the UNH network. Older models like Xbox One, PS3, certain PS4s, and Nintendo Wiis will either perform poorly or not at all on the USNH enterprise network. We strongly recommend any game console brought on campus be capable of at least 802.11ac wireless technology.
