New Contingent Worker

Managers and Department Admins can use this form to request the addition of a new contingent worker in Workday.

The Supervisory Org information where the Contingent Worker position will exist is required.

In Workday, a "Contingent Worker" in the context of higher education refers to a non-employee individual who is contracted to work on a project-based or short-term basis to fulfill specific needs within the university system, such as:

  • Affiliate Faculty
  • Affiliate Staff
  • Chaplain
  • Consultant
  • Emeritus
  • Post Doctoral Fellow
  • ROTC Staff
  • Temp Agency Hire
  • Visiting/Exchange Faculty
  • Volunteer

Non-employees, including non-student employees can be contracted as Contingent Workers using the worker type below to submit Expense Reports and access UShop:

  • Contingent Worker - Finance (for Expense Reporting)

An existing employee cannot be a Contingent Worker.
If an existing employee needs to have an affiliate relationship, an Academic Appointment can be added to their record.
