Projecting from a Laptop Computer

  1. Depending on the classroom, you will connect your device with HDMI OR VGA cable. If the device you are using does not have native HDMI or VGA output, you will need an adapter. AV Services does not provide these adapters to clients.
  2. Power on your device. Connect appropriate adapters to the HDMI or VGA cable in the classroom. Ensure adapter and/or cable is securely connected on both ends, if applicable.
  3. Connect adapter to laptop. System should auto-detect video signal and activate the AV system.
  4. Note: HDMI carries video and audio through a single cable, VGA requires you to plug in the 1/8" (Headphone) audio plug. Do not connect HDMI and VGA to your device at the same time!
  5. Activate the touch panel by pressing on it.
  6. Depending on the classroom, you may need to select the Laptop, HDMI or VGA button on the touch panel. This will select your device as the source and turn on the projector.
  7. After the projector has warmed up, the computer's image should display on the projection screen.
  8. If necessary, review the individual AV System instructions for your room HERE
  9. If the projection image is not displaying or displaying incorrectly, see the troubleshooting sections below.

Note that if your device does not have native HDMI or VGA output, you will need the appropriate video adapter, which you can look-up here (Apple brand adapters).
