Summary 

This article will explain how to upload a YouTube video into your Kaltura My Media. This will allow you to use it just like you would any other recording, such as embedding it in your Canvas course, putting it in the Media Gallery in Canvas or publishing it to a channel in MediaSpace.

Instructions

Step 1 - Find the YouTube video you would like to import into your My Media and copy its URL

Step 2 - Click on My Media in the far left global navigation panel in Canvas or log into your campus MediaSpace instance

Step 3 - Select Add New and then YouTube

Step 4 - Paste the URL into the Video Page Link field and click Preview

Step 5 - Select any tags you want, a Publishing Status (this can be changed later) and then Save. (Note, i​​f​ doing this in MediaSpace and not Canvas, there will be an additional publishing status of "Unlisted")

Step 6 - Select either Go to Media or Go to My Media

Step 7 - The YouTube video will now be in your My Media and will be automatically machine captioned after a short time

Users will understand how to upload a YouTube video into their Kaltura My Media to be used in either Canvas or MediaSpace
