Summary
Starting in late October 2025, Microsoft began automatically installing the Microsoft 365 Companion Apps—People, File Search, and Calendar—on Windows 11 devices that already have Microsoft 365 desktop client apps installed.
These lightweight apps are integrated directly into the Windows taskbar and are designed to help users work more efficiently by providing quick access to everyday tools—without needing to open full applications.

Instantly locate contacts, documents, and calendar events right from the taskbar—no app switching required.

Pinning these apps makes it easier to collaborate, join meetings, and find important files, helping users stay focused and save time.

Users can choose which apps to keep on their taskbar, pin their favorites, and personalize their layout to match their workflow.
Availability
These apps will be installed automatically on eligible Windows 11 devices starting in late October 2025. No action is required by users or IT staff.
