Summary
This article explains how to create and manage email distribution groups that you own and how to view details about email distribution groups to which you belong.
Please make sure you are signed into Outlook on the Web here - https://outlook.office.com
Distribution List Limitations
- Distribution Lists should be used for Internal Recipients only.
- If you need to add External Contacts to a Distribution List, the recommended solution is to create an M365 Group:

Task: To access the Distribution Group Management Portal:
Instructions
Step 1 - Navigate to the Distribution Group Portal. Please note that you will need to be logged into your USNH Work account in order to see the groups you belong to and the groups that you own.
- As of August 1st, 2023, this will be the only way to manage your distribution groups as an owner.
Outcome
Both lists of distribution groups that you belong to or own are displayed.

Instructions
Step 1 - Access your Email Distribution groups following the steps above.
Step 2 - From the list of Distribution Groups you belong to, Double-click on the Distribution Group you wish to update

Join a group

To join a distribution group that you belong to:
Step 1 - Under Groups I belong to, Select "+Join"
Step 2 - Select a group from the resulting list
Or
Step 2 - Search for a group by typing all or part of is name in the search window, and click .
Step 3 - Select a group from the resulting list.
Step 4 - Click "Join group"

Leave a group
|
To leave a distribution group that you belong to:
Step 1 - Double-click on a group from your existing list.
Step 2 - Click "Leave group"

Refresh information
|
To refresh the list of groups you belong to or own:
Step 1 - Click .
|
Edit or review details
|
To edit/review details of a specific group that you belong to or own:
Step 1 - Double-click on the group,
Or
Step 1 - Search for a group by typing all or part of is name in the search window, and click .
Step 2 - Double-click the group in the list to make your changes
Step 4 - To retain your changes in the settings that you with to edit, click Save,
Or
Step 4 - To undo your changes, click the X in the corner of the flyout window.

Create a new group
|
To create a new group:
Step 1 - Click Add new Group.
Step 2 - Enter your group information in the form.
Step 3 - Click Save.

Delete a group
|
To delete an existing group that you own:
Step 1 - Double-click the group from the list of groups you own.
Step 2 - Click Delete group.

Outcome
You can now create, and manage your email distribution groups.

Step 1 - View your Email Distribution groups following the steps above.
Step 2 - Double-click the Distribution group listed in Distribution groups I own and it will open up the management window

To display the owners.

Click View all and manage owners.

Click View all and manage members.

To add members/owners.

Click + Add owners/ Add members.

To remove members/owners.

Select the members you wish to remove, then click "Delete"

To save your changes.

Click Save.

Step 3 - To Manage Membership Approval, Delivery Management (Specified Senders), Message Approval, and Email Options Settings for Groups you Own, select Settings and configure the privacy and security settings for your Distribution List
Outcome
You can now access, and review or edit your email distribution group properties.

If no items are listed under Distribution groups I own and you believe that you are the owner of a distribution list, notify the Technology Help Desk.
