Outlook: Removing and adding an email account using the Mac Desktop application

This article explains how to update your Mac Desktop Outlook App for the USNH unified M365 environment. There are two parts:

  1. Removing the old campus-based account
  2. Adding the account for the Unified environment

 

How-To

Task: To remove the old campus-based account.

 

Instructions

Step 1 - Open the desktop-based Outlook Application for Mac.

 

Step 2 - Go to Outlook -> Preferences in the upper left menu next to the Apple icon:

 

Step 3 - Select the "Accounts Tab":

 

Step 4 - Under the accounts listing, select your campus account and click the minus (-) button at the bottom of the list.  This will remove the account from the desktop-based apple mail application on your computer but will not impact the email on the web.  You may have other accounts listed in the accounts listing (i.e. Gmail or iCloud) - these accounts are not impacted by this process and should be left as is.

 

Step 5 - Quit out of the Outlook Application.

 

Outcome

Your old campus-based account will be removed from the desktop-based Outlook Application.

Task: To add the USNH unified M365 email and calendar accounts.

 

Instructions

Step 1 - Open the desktop-based Outlook Application for Mac.

 

Step 2 - Go to Outlook -> Preferences in the upper left menu next to the Apple icon:

 

Step 3 - Select the "Accounts Tab":

 

Step 4 - Under the accounts listing, click the Plus (+) button at the bottom of the list:

 

Step 5 - At the Welcome Screen, Click "Add Email Account"

 

Step 6 - For your email address, enter your username@usnh.edu (fully qualified username, example: jbd2519@usnh.edu).

Click the "Continue" button

 

Step 8 - On the USNH Enter Password page, enter your password and tap Sign In.  If required, approve the login attempt with your preferred method of multi-factor authentication (MFA). 

Note: If a server address is needed, it is outlook.office365.com

Step 9 - You will be passed back to the Outlook Application and will see a green check mark indicating that your account has been successfully linked.  When done, click the "Done" button

 

Outcome

Your USNH unified M365 email and calendar accounts will be added to the desktop-based Outlook Application.
