Instructions:

Locating Migrated Moodle Course Content in Canvas

1. Log in to your institution's Canvas

   1. CPS: https://mycourses.unh.edu
   2. PSU: https://mycourses.plymouth.edu

• Courses will be found on the Dashboard as course cards. Click on the course card to enter the course.
  1. Courses that were imported from Moodle will be found by clicking Courses -> All Courses

Reviewing and Updating Course Content 

Migrated Moodle course content will require a review and update to address areas of the course that do not import well. 

The following are key areas on which to focus:

1. Labels
   • Labels import as a Text Header or Page in Canvas depending on how they were set up in the Moodle course. It is recommended that you copy the content from the Text Header and create a Page for better viewing by students in a Module. Pay close attention to the naming of the new Page to ensure that it aligns with the Module name.
   • Labels that import as a Page might require manual formatting updates.
2. Files
   • Files import without an issue; however, they often display in a Module individually. You should consider if you want to keep them as separate files in the Modules or do you want to add them to Pages so you can provide context at the same time. 
3. Course Syllabus
   • The syllabus from a Moodle course will import as a file in the Modules area of a Canvas course. It is recommended that you place your syllabus in the Syllabus tool from the course menu. This will provide a consistent viewing experience for students across all courses.
4. Course Structure
   • The migration is a great time to reflect on your course structure and decide if you want to make any changes. Examples: 
     • Structuring your course by module or week of the semester (Module 1 or Week 1)
     • Modules could be structured by topic (Middle Ages or Renaissance) or activity (Assignments, Tests, Discussions)
5. Kaltura Videos
   • Kaltura videos did not import during the migration process and will need to be remapped in each Canvas course.
6. Link Validator

• Verify all external links throughout your course to ensure they are valid. Use the Course Link Validator which searches through course content and returns invalid or unresponsive links.

7.  Rubrics

• Rubrics do not import and will need to be rebuilt in the course

Copying Content from One Course to Another

After migrated content has been reviewed and updated, you will be able to copy it to the appropriate term-based offering available to you in Canvas.

Outcome:

Users should be able to locate migrated Moodle courses within Canvas.
