Connecting to Open Guest Wireless

Summary

This article provides instructions for connecting to the USNH Campus-Open Guest Wireless network with your laptop or mobile device.

Guests or any individual without USNH credentials will log into wireless on the Campus-Open network: KSC-Open, PSU-Open, or UNH-Open using their email address and phone number (optional).

Important: Guest registration requires a non-USNH email account (can't contain usnh.edu, keene.edu, plymouth.edu, unh.edu, or law.unh.edu). For instructions to connect with USNH credentials, see Further Readings at the end of this article.

 

How-To

Task: To connect to USNH Open Guest Wireless Network on a laptop or mobile device.

Important: By connecting to the USNH network, you agree to abide by the USNH Acceptable Use Policy.  Please review the USNH Acceptable Use Policy prior to signing into the USNH network.

Instructions

Step 1 - To connect, select the WiFi symbol.

Windows: In your system tray at the bottom right of your screen, click on the WiFi symbol.

MacOS: At the top right of your screen, click on the WiFi symbol

Mobile: Go to settings and click the WiFi symbol.

Step 2 - A list of available networks will appear.  Select the Campus-Open network for your campus and click “Connect”. 

Step 3 - This Connect Guest Device page will display. 

  • If your browser or device prompts you with a "login to the network" button instead, just click on the button to get to this page.

While this example illustrates the Network Registration process at UNH, the instructions are the same across all campuses and will show the campus-Open network name for your location.

Step 4 - Click the button for your preferred method to receive a passcode: via Email or via Text Message

Step 5 - Fill out the registration form with your full name and email address. Check the box to accept the USNH Acceptable Use Policy .

  • Your email address will become your username to log into the network. 
  • If you selected via Text Message then you must also provide your phone number and check the box to agree to receive text messages.

Step 6 - Once you fill out the form, click the "Register" button to have your passcode sent via your chosen method.

Step 7 - Upon receipt of your passcode, click the "Click Here to Login" button.

Step 8 - Fill in your email address as the Username and the passcode you received as the Password then click the "Log In" button.

Step 9 - Your registration will process, you will be redirected to a new page, and you will have network access.

 

Outcome

Your laptop or mobile device is now connected to USNH Campus-Open Guest Wireless Network.

Guest wireless registration lasts for 30 days, during which time your device should connect automatically.  After 30 days, you will need to re-register following this same process.
