Summary
This article includes troubleshooting steps for accessing the Tableau Server or being unable to open a link to a Tableau visualization. If you are experiencing problems opening a link to a Tableau visualization or opening tableau.unh.edu, it could be one of these three common issues.
Issue
You can’t access tableau.unh.edu (Tableau Server) or can’t open a link to a Tableau visualization.
Resolution
Try the following troubleshooting steps:
- If you have not been challenged for a username and password:
- Check that you are connected to the VPN. To access visualizations on Tableau Server you must first connect to the GlobalProtect VPN. If you do not already use the VPN for other work then you can find information at GlobalProtect VPN: General Information and Resources.
- Ensure that you are on a Secure network.
- If you have been challenged for a username and password, but get an error like "Resource not found", "invalid username or password", or can’t see the visual you’re expecting:
- Confirm with the developer that you have a Tableau Server account.
- Confirm with the developer that you have been given access to the visualization.
- Ensure that you are using your AD username and password. (Tableau uses your UNH, KSC, or PSU - issued User ID and Password, this is the same one you would use to log into your work-issued computer.)
- If you have been granted access to the project and you are logged onto the VPN and still cannot open the link, check that you are on the Secure network. You may not be able to connect from the Public WiFi network.
Outcome
You should be able to access the Tableau Server, or understand why you cannot.
